Two arguments for Abrogating the Sabbath
Abrogation through a cessation of commands (Rom. 6:2, 15 & 1 John 5:3)
Abrogation through cessation of ceremonies.
5 Reason not to abrogate the Sabbath as ceremonial
Sabbath is a creation ordinance (Gen.2:1-3).
Sabbath was expressly taught prior to TC (Exod. 16:4, 5, 22-30).
Sabbath was the distinguishing mark of a Genesis pattern (Gen. 2:1-3; 8:10; 29:27; 50:10).
Violation was a capital offense (Exod. 31:14).
The Ten Commandments are treated as a moral unit that completely moves into the New Testament (Jer. 31:33; Eph. 6:2-3; 1 Tim.1:8-11).
Five Arguments for Accepting the Sabbath
The rationale is decisive (Gen.2:2,3).
The remembrance is demanded (Exod. 20:8).
The ruler is deity (Mark 2:27,28).
The reality is demonstrated (Matt.24:20).
The regularity is described (Isa.56:1-7; 66:1,2,22,23).
Two Primary Reasons for Keeping the Sabbath Command
Redemption Remembrance (Deut. 5:15).
Creation Celebration (Exod. 20:11; Heb. 4:1-10).
