Church family and visitors,
We are saddened to not gather this Lord’s Day to worship God together and enjoy the fellowship of the body of Christ. Still, we encourage you to set apart the day for worship and rest. Below is a simple liturgy (order of worship) to use for home worship. Read the Scriptures out loud, sing the songs either a cappella, with your own instruments, or along with the recordings attached, and listen to the sermon on Psalm 8 - "Overwhelmed by God!" If you can safely do so, consider inviting nearby neighbors to join you!
*With the possibility of power and internet outages, consider taking a screen shot or printing this order of service beforehand.
We are praying for your safety and God’s protection on our community during this storm. Please reach out to someone if you need help weathering the storm! Our elders, deacons, and church members are here to serve and care for one another. Please call, text, or email officers@ncchurch.net if you need assistance.
Simple Liturgy for Home Worship
CALL TO WORSHIP - Psalm 121
[1] I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
[2] My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.
[3] He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
[4] Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
[5] The LORD is your keeper;
the LORD is your shade on your right hand.
[6] The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
[7] The LORD will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
[8] The LORD will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.
RESPONSE - Hebrews 1:1-2
Leader: Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to his people by the prophets.
Household: But now in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son.
SONG - Praise to the Lord the Almighty
VERSE 1
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salva tion
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near
Praise Him in glad adoration
VERSE 2
Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustai neth
Hast thou not seen how thy desires all have been
Granted in what He ordaineth
VERSE 3
Praise to the Lord, who does prosper thy work and defend thee
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee
Ponder anew what the Almighty will do
If with His love He befriend thee
VERSE 4
Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him
All that has life and breath, come now with praises before Him
Let the amen sound from His people again
Gladly fore'er we adore Him
Let the amen sound from His people again
Gladly fore'er we adore Him
PRAYER
Read Psalm 32:1–7
[1] Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
[2] Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity,
and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
[3] For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
[4] For day and night your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah
[5] I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
[6] Therefore let everyone who is godly
offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found;
surely in the rush of great waters,
they shall not reach him.
[7] You are a hiding place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah
Take turns praying aspects of the A.C.T.S. prayer acronym:
Adoration (Praising God)
Confession (Admitting your sin to the Lord)
Thanksgiving (Thanking him for his mercy and provision)
Supplication (Asking him for help for you and others)
ASSURANCE OF GRACE - Ephesians 2:8–10
[8] For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [9] not a result of works, so that no one may boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
SONG - Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
VERSE 1
Come Thou Fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy, never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it
Mount of God’s unchanging love
VERSE 2
Here I raise my Ebenezer
Hither by Thy help I’m come
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He, to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood
VERSE 3
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be
Let Thy grace now like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

SONG - The Solid Rock
VERSE 1
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
VERSE 2
When darkness veils His lovely face
I rest on his unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
VERSE 3
His oath, his covenant, his blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
VERSE 4
When he shall come with trumpet sound
O may I then in him be found
Dressed in his righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
